Sudan, located in Northern Africa, is officially known as the Republic of Sudan. Sudan is the largest country in the Arab world as well as the African continent and the 10th largest in the world in terms of area. It is an agricultural nation and its products are sorghum, millet, wheat, cassava, tropical fruits and sweet potatoes. Its primary export crops include cotton, sesame, peanuts and sugar. Port Sudan is mainly used for foreign trade. Chief industries of Sudan include: oil, cement, edible oils, sugar, cotton ginning, textiles, soap distilling, shoes, petroleum refining, pharmaceuticals and armaments. |
